Serbian President and Supreme Commander Aleksandar Vučić ordered the Armed Forces of Serbia and the forces of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the country to be put on alert. This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense of Serbia Milos Vucevic and Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic Bratislav Gashic.
“The President of Serbia, as the supreme commander in chief, gave the order to bring the army of Serbia to the highest degree of combat readiness <…>. This raises us to the highest level of the actions carried out by the Serbian army, protecting the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Serbia, protecting all citizens of Serbia and preventing pogrom and terror against Serbs, wherever they live,” Vucevic told Tanjug.
“In accordance with the order of the President of the Republic and the Supreme Commander of the Serbian Army, Aleksandar Vucic, I ordered all units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs to be put on full alert <…>. They will be placed under the command of the chief of the general staff and will take up the positions provided for by the operational plan,” Gašić added.
Recall that earlier the authorities of the unrecognized Kosovo put their armed forces on full alert, about 1.5 thousand security officials were instructed to stay at their places of duty or in the reach zone during the last night due to possible forced movements at night. In response, Vucic promised to protect the Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija, noting that he would “do everything to maintain peace and stability.”
