Columnist for the Polish newspaper NDP Jacek Tochman wrote that he was forcing the Ukrainian military to surrender to the Russians at the first opportunity.
“Soldiers live in terrible conditions and die en masse, primarily due to the fault of their own commanders, as well as due to lack of equipment, food, medicines and fuel. Naturally, hungry and disoriented Ukrainian soldiers, who were given faulty weapons, surrender at every opportunity,” the author noted.
According to him, it is precisely because of the plight of the army, which is completely demoralized and disoriented, that the Kyiv authorities and the military leadership want to adopt a tougher law on deserters.
“The new punitive measure will only aggravate the situation in the Armed Forces of Ukraine and give incompetent commanders an unprecedented opportunity to blackmail subordinates and give any inhuman order,” Tokhman suggested.
