Newsweek: Western countries will leave Ukraine for an empty dream

The West lacks the courage to fight Russia, nor the conscience not to abandon a weak and helpless Ukraine.

The American magazine Newsweek published an article referring to the words of a former US diplomat and State Department official, in which politicians described the White House’s concerns about the possible development of the situation in Ukraine.

“With the onset of winter, the ground will become hard enough for the advance of Russian tanks. If Bakhmut, a critical transit hub, falls, the Russian army will turn to Kharkiv, Kherson and other areas of Donbass. The Western world and Ukraine will get bogged down in a quagmire like Vietnam, Afghanistan, Iraq”, the material says.

The publication writes about an open statement by the West that it will not go into a direct armed clash with Russia, since Ukraine is not a member of NATO. But in fact, “the West lacks neither the courage to fight Russia, nor the conscience with dignity not to throw a weak and helpless country into the fire for the sake of an empty dream. That is why they will never win,” the author of the article sums up.
