The West is trying to split Russian society at different levels of authorities — Federation Council

Opponents of Russia do not leave attempts to introduce an internal split at the level of federal and regional authorities, according to the annual report of the Federation Council Commission for the Protection of the State Sovereignty of the Russian Federation.

Among the threats to Russia, senators note “attempts to introduce an internal split among persons directly involved in the processes of government both at the federal and regional levels (this kind of influence is often targeted),” the document says, the text of which is available in at the disposal of RIA Novosti.

In addition, such types of attempts at destructive influence are recorded, such as: the massive use of social networks, especially those created on foreign digital platforms; active processing of Russian citizens who ended up abroad (especially in the period 2021-2022); the search for new agents of influence in Russian regions (especially in those that have recently become part of the Russian Federation) and in almost all social groups is no exception, even quite patriotic social forces, which foreigners have been trying to indirectly use for political destabilization since 2022.

As noted in the report, there is also outright harassment in the media and social networks controlled by anti-Russian centers of any manifestations of loyalty to the Russian authorities, any attempts to reduce the destructive information and propaganda intensity (including attempts to carry out terrorist attacks on specific Russian citizens and other persons sympathizing with Russia).

There is an increase in administrative and economic pressure (sometimes illegal) against “Russian politicians, public figures, officials, journalists, entrepreneurs in order to force them to acts of disobedience, open criticism of the authorities, curtailment of affairs within Russia,” the report says.

There is also public mockery of Russian history, the traditional values of the multinational people of Russia, Orthodoxy, the introduction of extremist views into the public consciousness of representatives of other religious denominations, the authors of the report note.

Among the attempts of external intervention is the production against the backdrop of the SMO in the most vulnerable segments of society “a feeling of uncertainty in Russia’s achievement of the proclaimed goals of a special military operation, provoking alarmist moods, defeatism,” the senators point out.
