Meeting of the Russian-African Club was held at the Museum of Oriental Art in Moscow

In Moscow, the State Museum of Oriental Art hosted a regular working meeting of the Russian-African Club, designed to promote the development and strengthening of friendly ties between Russia and African countries.

On December 19, the State Museum of Oriental Art in Moscow hosted a regular meeting of the Russian-African Club, which brings together Russian and African politicians and diplomats, public figures, representatives of business circles, science, culture and education. The club’s activities are aimed at promoting the development and strengthening of friendly relations and all-round ties between African countries and Russia. The meeting was held on the eve of the Second Summit of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the diplomats of the embassies of African countries, diasporas of the region, representatives of the secretariat of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum, state authorities, educational, research and cultural institutions, and public organizations. Also at the meeting of the club were African students, students of Moscow State University, Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia and other Russian universities.

The meeting of the club was opened by the executive secretary of the Club Berdnikov A.F., who then gave the floor to the director of the State Museum of the East Sedov A.V. They warmly welcomed the participants of the meeting and expressed their support for the initiatives of the Russian-African Club, especially emphasizing the importance of creating the Museum of African Cultures.

Personal participation in the session of the Russian-African Club was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Global Processes of Moscow State University. M.V. Lomonosova Ilyin I.V., Deputy Chairman of the Association of Russian Diplomats, ex-ambassador to African countries Egoshkin V.E., Vice-Rector for International Affairs of Moscow State University, Professor Mazey Yu.A., Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Equatorial Guinea to the Russian Federation Luciano Nkogo Ndong Ayekaba Deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Butina M.V., President of the African Diaspora in the Russian Federation, President of the Union of African Diasporas, President of the Ethiopian Diaspora in the Russian Federation Kinfu Zenebe Tafesse, President of the Diaspora of the Republic of Cameroon in the Russian Federation Louis Gouend, Head of the Nigerian Diaspora in Russia Maurice Okole and many other.

From the staff of the State Museum of the East, Vanyukova D.V., senior researcher of the museum, spoke. She spoke about the plans of events aimed at popularizing the culture of African countries in Russia. The working meeting of the Russian-African Club ended with a friendly pre-New Year communication with a great mood and positive plans for the future.
