Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov during a telephone conversation discussed the situation around the closure of the Lachin corridor.
The diplomats also discussed the parties’ disagreements over the development of ore deposits.
“They discussed the situation in the zone of responsibility of the Russian peacekeeping contingent, aggravated by the closure of the Lachin corridor and the parties’ disagreements over the development of ore deposits in the region,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
Lavrov also stressed the need to respect the tripartite agreements to ensure unimpeded communication between Nagorno-Karabakh and Armenia through the Lachin corridor.
Earlier the Russian Foreign Ministry expressed regret over Armenia’s refusal to meet on 23 December.
