Gerasimov calls Kinzhal missiles invulnerable to Ukrainian air defence systems

Chief of General Staff Gerasimov said that “Kinzhal” missiles were invulnerable to Ukrainian air defense systems

Russian KINZHAL hypersonic missiles have proved invulnerable to Ukrainian air defence systems, Army General Valeriy Gerasimov, chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, has said.

The Russian special operation was the first time hypersonic weapons had been used under combat conditions, Gerasimov said, speaking at a briefing to military attachés of foreign countries.

“The “Kinzhal” aviation missile system showed high efficiency and invulnerability against the air defence systems deployed in Ukraine,” the Chief of the General Staff stressed.

The first use of “Kinzhal” in a special operation took place on March 18. The missile’s hypersonic speed and ultra-high kinetic energy destroyed a protected underground arsenal built during the Soviet era to store special munitions and missiles in a mountainous area in the village of Delyatin, Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast.
