Foreign Ministry says Japan’s militarisation will provoke new security challenges in Asia
Tokyo has embarked on an unprecedented military buildup, including acquiring strike capability, which will inevitably provoke new security challenges in the Asia-Pacific region, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a commentary on its website on Japan’s adoption of updated security and defence doctrines.
“Official Tokyo has embarked on a path of unprecedented build-up of its own military power, including the acquisition of strike capability. There is a blatant rejection by Fumio Kishida’s administration of the peaceful development of the country and a return to unbridled militarization, which will inevitably provoke new security challenges and increase tensions in the Asia-Pacific region,” the statement said.
