Jen Psaki attributed Zelensky’s visit to declining support for Ukraine in the US
Former White House press secretary Jen Psaki explained the unexpected visit of Volodymyr Zelensky to Washington by the declining support for Ukraine in the United States and called it an attempt once again to “sell the subject” to Congress and the public.
On his first overseas trip since the Russian military operation began, Zelensky will meet President Joe Biden and address Congress.
“He wouldn’t be making this trip if support in the US wasn’t dwindling while the Russians are destroying energy sources and bombing cities. This is an attempt to sell the subject to Congress and the public. Stay with Ukraine,” Psaki, who now works for MSNBC, wrote on Twitter.
She predicted that Zelensky would receive a rapturous reception and a “well-deserved standing ovation” in Congress. U.S. lawmakers are considering an initiative to give Ukraine nearly $45 billion in additional aid.
