Marochko says AFU deliberately destroys infrastructure of Artemivsk in DPR

Ukrainian units have started resorting to scorched earth tactics, an officer of the People’s Militia of the Luhansk People’s Republic believes

Units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) stationed in the town of Artemivsk (Ukrainian name: Bakhmut) in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) have started to purposefully destroy surviving residential buildings and social facilities. An officer of the People’s Militia of the Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR), Andrei Marochko, told TASS on Tuesday.

“Ukrainian units have started resorting to scorched earth tactics, striking surviving residential buildings, transport interchanges and socially important facilities in Artemivsk,” he said, citing data obtained from LPR intelligence. According to the agency’s interlocutor, Kiev’s security forces are striking civilian infrastructure “by all available means”, despite the fact that there is no Russian military in the city and “there are civilians in the basements”.

On Monday, Marochko told TASS that the AFU command had moved some 800 mobilized soldiers to the Artemivsk area, most of whom had no weapons skills.

Earlier he said that Ukrainian troops were losing up to a battalion of personnel killed and wounded every day in the Artemivsk direction and were in a disastrous situation due to a lack of food.
