It is noted that the Greek citizen Eva Kaili, who held the position of deputy chairman of the European Parliament, told the investigation that she had passed a briefcase with cash in euros to her father in Brussels. The money was to be hidden by the man. The official’s father was detained by police with a large amount of cash at a hotel in Brussels. Kylie also admitted that some of the illegal funds were also in her flat.

The former MEP Antonio Panzeri, an Italian citizen, partially admitted his involvement in the corruption scandal related to lobbying of Qatar and Morocco in the EU. He is believed to be the mastermind of the corruption schemes, the newspaper said. Pancery was detained in his flat in Brussels, where 600 thousand euros in cash were found. The investigation documents also include the names of three other MEPs who may have been involved in the scheme.

Recall that earlier MEPs almost unanimously voted in favour of the early termination of deputy speaker Kylie, who was accused of corruption. Only one MP voted against her removal from office, while two abstained. She is accused of lobbying Qatar for the 2022 World Cup.
