The German chancellor claims he still supports Ukraine by supplying the Ukrainian state with modern weapons such as IRIS-T air defense systems and howitzers, but he adheres to three principles in deliveries to Ukraine.

“Yes, we support Ukraine as much as possible. But in doing so, we want to prevent a direct confrontation between NATO and the Russian Federation. That is why Berlin will not act alone,” Scholz said about the three principles.

He believes that his position regarding support for Ukraine is decisive, but very balanced. The German chancellor also suggested that the Germans might be satisfied with such a position.

However, the Ukrainian authorities still hope to receive Leopard 2 tanks from Germany, but Berlin is in no hurry to supply them to Ukraine.

Olaf Scholz noted that Berlin supports the Kyiv regime, but will not take any action without the consent of NATO allies.
