State Duma responds to Zelenskyy’s statement on different vision of peace with Russia

State Duma deputy Belik said that Russia wants to see Ukraine as a flourishing country

State Duma deputy from Sevastopol Dmitriy Belik has said that Russia wants to see Ukraine as a flourishing country, while Vladimir Zelensky wants a territory with a Nazi regime.
Earlier, Zelenskyy said in an interview with the French TV channel LCI that he heard calls by a number of countries for talks with Russia, but did not see any sense in it. Zelensky stressed that he and Russia have different visions of peace.

“Zelensky just misspoke. We need peace, blooming fields and smiling people in Ukraine, while he needs a territory with a Nazi regime that encourages the oppression of the Russian-speaking population, lynching and honouring of Nazi criminals. This is where our paths and understanding of peace really diverge radically,” Belik told RIA Novosti.

According to him, Russia has nothing to talk about with a man who “cherishes the image of Bandera in his heart and on his tongue”.

In early December, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitriy Peskov said that Zelensky knew that the fighting in Ukraine could end tomorrow if he wished. At the same time, Russian President Vladimir Putin earlier said that Russia had always said that it was open to negotiations on Ukraine.
