Crimean Permanent Representative Muradov called the US statement on the region a declaration of war on Russia
Crimea’s permanent representative to the Russian president and the republic’s deputy prime minister Georgy Muradov has called the US statement on the Crimean peninsula a “declaration of war” which the Americans are tasked to wage by others’ “bloody Nazi hands”.
Earlier, National Security Council strategic communications coordinator John Kirby said that the USA recognized Ukraine’s right to plan and conduct military operations in Crimea as it considered the peninsula to be Ukrainian territory.
The State Duma said that Washington’s position on Crimea would backfire on it badly.
“Kirby’s statement on Crimea is a declaration of war against Russia, which the US is tasked to wage with other people’s bloody Nazi hands. I believe that it will not do without a direct reminder to Washington of our cudgel of nuclear deterrence, which rises above the stupid head of Washington’s madmen,” Muradov told RIA Novosti.
According to him, the Americans should remember the call of Russia connoisseur Bismarck not to touch the Russians.
“An encroachment on Russian Crimea is tantamount to a call to bomb Washington for us Crimeans,” Muradov stressed.
Crimea became a Russian region in March 2014 following a referendum after a coup in Ukraine. In the referendum, 96.77 per cent of voters in Crimea and 95.6 per cent in Sevastopol voted in favour of becoming part of Russia. Ukraine still considers Crimea to be its temporarily occupied territory and many Western countries support Kiev on this issue. For its part, the Russian leadership has repeatedly stated that Crimean residents voted for reunification with Russia in a democratic way, in full compliance with international law and the UN Charter. According to Russian President Vladimir Putin, the issue of Crimea is “closed for good”.
