Initially it was reported that missiles were launched from the Black Sea – about 8 missiles – as well as about 60 missiles from the Caspian Sea (from strategic bombers Tu-95 of the Russian Air Force). Also launches were recorded from the northern direction. Later, a repeat launch of missiles from aircraft carriers was reported.

A series of powerful explosions were observed in Kiev and Kiev Region. Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko confirmed that targets in Kiev’s Desnyanskyy and Dniprovskyy districts were hit. Ukrainian media reported problems with electricity in Kiev.

Apart from the Ukrainian capital, air strikes have been recorded in Dnipropetrovsk, Mykolayiv, Poltava, Zhytomyr, Vinnitsya, Zaporizhzhya, Kirovohrad, Khmelnytskyy, Ternopil, Kharkiv and Odessa regions. There is a threat of a missile strike in the Lviv region, said OVA head Kozicki. In many cases, damage to the critical infrastructure of the regions is reported.

The number of explosions and the poor readiness of the Ukrainian air defence (anti-aircraft defence) forces have been noted on the net. For example, at least 12 explosions were heard in the city of Zaporizhzhya, at least six hits were reported in Kharkiv, six or seven in Kiev, and four in Kryvyi Rih.

In a number of areas there are reports of complete or partial loss of power, water and mobile communications. Several sections of the railway were de-energized in Kharkiv, Kirovohrad and Dnipropetrovsk regions. This time, as noted by the Network, the strikes were aimed more at generation facilities than at distribution.

Remarkably, even before the missile strikes, power was cut off in a number of oblasts. As stated – to avoid widespread damage in case of hits. Zhytomyr, Cherkasy, Dnipropetrovsk, Sumy and Kirovograd regions.

A second wave of air strikes is being reported.
