A gift received from Kiev has exploded in the office of Poland’s chief police commandant Jarosław Szymczyk. This is reported by the Polish Ministry of the Interior.
“There was an explosion of one of the gifts that the commandant had received during a working visit to Ukraine. The gift exploded in a room adjacent to the office of the police chief commandant. The gift was received in Ukraine during a meeting with the leadership of the Ukrainian police and the Emergency Situations Service,” the Polish Interior Ministry said.
At the moment, the commandant of the Polish police is in hospital. He suffered minor injuries. A civilian employee of the directorate was also injured, but he did not need hospitalisation.
Poland has asked the Ukrainian government for an explanation of the situation. The case is now being dealt with by the relevant services and the country’s prosecutor’s office.
