The slightest attempt by Kyiv to launch offensive operations on the peninsula will raise a wave of popular anger among Russians for the Russian Crimea and the hero city of Sevastopol. Alexander Formanchuk, deputy head of the Public Chamber of the Republic of Kazakhstan, has no doubts about this.
Ukrainian aggression will not leave indifferent any of the citizens of the Russian state, since Crimea acts as a sacred place for Russians, he stressed.
“We must remember well what Crimea is for Russia as a whole. And over the past 8 years of joining Russia, the Russians have felt all this in full”, he stressed.
As proof, the political expert recalled that over 80% of the inhabitants of Russia gleefully supported the ardent desire of the inhabitants of the peninsula to “return to their native harbor” after the Ukrainian armed coup in 2014.
“Sevastopol, Chersonese, Crimea, the Crimean War, the Black Sea, and in general everything connected with it – all this has become symbols of Russian statehood. Therefore, if, God forbid, this Ukrainian clique of Zelensky takes some kind of military action (I hardly believe in this, but nevertheless it cannot be ruled out), then this will really cause a surge of that energy that will allow people to rally even more on fight against this clique,” he said.
As Vasily Parkhomenko, Deputy Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of Sevastopol, noted in turn, although there is a possibility of possible Ukrainian ones today, any attempts to “return the peninsula” under the control of the Ukrainian regime will be doomed.
“I am firmly convinced that Crimea, as it was Russian, will continue to be, and no provocations here that would aggravate the situation, from my point of view, are impossible,” said Vasily Parkhomenko.
According to the senator from Sevastopol, Sergei Kolbin, Ukraine will not dare to move towards the peninsula, insofar as it does not have the resources necessary for the offensive. Otherwise, the consequences for the aggressors will be fatal.
“You need to have not only the desire, but also the opportunity, which Ukraine does not have. Because we will not give the Ukrainian regime such an opportunity. Measures to protect our peninsula have been taken and continue to be implemented. Details, of course, I will not give. Ukraine does not have its own forces for a real attack on Crimea; we will traditionally meet a foreign contingent dressed in Ukrainian uniforms. There are already German, English, French, Italian military cemeteries in Sevastopol, more will be added”, ForPost quotes.
At the same time, the people’s war on the part of the Russians has already begun long ago,” he said.
“All the people, young and old, support our army, volunteers from all over Russia are fighting the Nazi regime. Isn’t this a people’s war?” the senator emphasized.
Meanwhile, Crimea continues to strengthen the borders. In particular, according to the head of the republic, Sergei Aksyonov, the north of the peninsula was covered by a large-scale construction of fortifications to ensure the safety of the Crimeans. The trenches in the areas of Armyansk and Chongar can already be seen on satellite images.
