Zakharova compared the attempted coup in Germany to the Euromaidan in Ukraine

Zakharova recalled that Steinmeier negotiated with putschists during Euromaidan

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova questioned why German politicians who condemned the attempted coup in Germany supported the Euromaidan in Ukraine and stressed that Berlin should answer the question.

“When Joschka Fischer supported the supposedly ‘peaceful change of power’ in the wake of the Orange Revolution in 2005, when Guido Westerwelle met Ukrainian opposition leaders on the Maidan in 2013, when Frank-Walter Steinmeier engaged in ‘mediation talks’ with putschists and usurpers in those months of Euromaidan – was this not direct support for the very coup d’etat that the German authorities so rapidly and harshly suppressed at home?” – Zakharova wrote in her Telegram channel.

The Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman said that there was no talk of a change of power in Germany, with the same politicians in the country, including German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, who “now speaks with such pride about ‘German liberal democracy, which has defended itself,'” while supporting the Euromaidan in Ukraine.
Zakharova wondered whether the seizure of authorities (parliament, courts, territorial and national executive bodies) by far-right radicals was part of the coup attempt.
