The Russian authorities are completing the preparation of a package of response measures to the decision of a number of countries to impose a ceiling on oil prices from Russia, the answer will be appropriate. This was stated by the press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov.
Answering the question of journalists whether we should expect retaliatory measures from Moscow and whether such preparations are underway, Peskov said:
“This should be expected. Preparations are being completed.” He also noted that Russia’s response would be “appropriate.”
Recall that on December 5, Western oil sanctions came into force. According to their provisions, the European Union ceases to purchase Russian oil, which is transited by sea, and the European Union, the G7 countries and Australia introduce a price ceiling for its sea transportation at $60 per barrel. Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak, in turn, commenting on this decision, said that Russia would not accept a price ceiling for its oil in any format, even if it was forced to cut production.
