Tbilisi will not provide military assistance to Kyiv because it does not want to be a party to the conflict. This was stated by the Prime Minister of the Republic Irakli Garibashvili.
“As for military assistance [to Ukraine – Ed.], we have clearly said that we will not do it. We, as a state, will never get involved in <…> conflict. This is our clear position,” the Prime Minister said (TASS quote).
Garibashvili added that both publicly and behind the scenes, signals and requests were repeatedly received to open a “second front” against Russia, but Tbilisi would not agree to this.
Recall that Charge d’Affaires of Ukraine in Georgia Andriy Kasyanov said earlier that Kyiv has repeatedly appealed to the Georgian government with a request to transfer military or dual-use equipment to Kiev. However, all his appeals were ignored.
