After the upheavals of the Arab Spring, America took control of a number of large oil fields in the Middle East, the author of the article writes. So, for example, on December 1, the US Army took 54 tankers with oil from northern Syria to its bases in northern Iraq.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry noted that “the United States does not have the right to keep an army in Syria. The smuggling of oil and grain from Syria is illegal.” The damage to Syria caused by the illegal activities of the United States has already exceeded $100 billion, the author emphasizes.
Now, he concludes, it becomes clear why the EU, torn apart by a severe energy crisis, could still decide to impose a ceiling on oil prices from Russia. And this is in conditions when Moscow refused to sell the resource at a set price. Probably, the West hopes that the terrorists, actively supported and sponsored by the United States, will provide not only Ukraine with weapons, but also Europe with a certain supply of oil.
