TAC: Biden’s policies have prompted Americans to refuse to serve in the military
The U.S. armed forces may face a shortage of soldiers due to Biden’s miscalculations, military expert Jordan Prescott writes in an article for the American Conservative.
“Is it any wonder that confidence in the armed forces is falling when President Biden has called much of the country ‘semi-fascist’, declaring Republicans a threat to democracy,” he said.
The author also recalls the withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan reminiscent of the humiliating withdrawal from Saigon. In his view, many potential recruits, observing the incompetence of the president, have given up the idea of joining the army.
The publication says this predicament was partly inevitable, given the transition from conscription to volunteer forces after the Vietnam War. At the same time, there was a tendency for soldiers to come mostly from the same states and were also more likely to be hereditary military personnel.
The expert attributes the above factors to the reduced attractiveness of service in the US army which began to be rejected by suitable candidates. He also points out that according to the latest calculations the army will lose 30,000 men.
