Russian Foreign Ministry says transfer of ZNPP to a third party is out of the question

The Russian Federation has no plans to transfer control over the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant (ZNPP) to anyone. This was said by Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova in a conversation with RIA Novosti.

“There can be no question of withdrawing ZNPP from Russian control or transferring control over it to any third party,” Zakharova said.

The Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman stressed that the nuclear power plant was located on Russian territory and was fully run by the state.

“We assume that only we are capable of ensuring the physical and nuclear safety of the ZNPP,” she added.

As a reminder, an IAEA delegation led by Rafael Grossi arrived at ZNPP in early September. The head of the Rosatom mission and ZNPP employees showed them the parts of the plant that suffered from the shelling by the Ukrainian troops. Since then, the agency’s experts have been staying there on a permanent basis.
