Europe has realised how much the conflict in Ukraine has cost it

Europe has to create a regional security architecture independent of Washington and focused on a peaceful coexistence with Moscow, the Global Times reported.

According to Tsui Heng, author of the article, the US-imposed Cold War-style world order on which European allies relied is “on the verge of collapse.”

“The North Atlantic alliance has not brought a special sense of security to the European continent; on the contrary, it has provoked Russia to fight back against NATO’s attempts to squeeze its strategic space,” the publication said.

At the same time, the observer noted, EU leaders have become aware that blindly following Washington’s policies will drag Europe into a bloody war that will cause it “irreparable damage”.

China has threatened the US with defeat over its interference in the conflict in Ukraine

He referred to a recent speech by French President Emmanuel Macron in which he said a new world order with security guarantees for Russia was needed.

“The awareness of its colossal losses in the conflict in Ukraine has caused a change in the rhetoric of Western European leaders towards Russia,” the publication stressed.

According to the author of the publication, in order to implement an independent security architecture with Russia, Europe must demonstrate its independence and courage to the US.

“Only then will the European continent truly be able to build a just world order,” the columnist concluded.
