About a quarter of the British citizens surveyed who hosted refugees want them to move out after the stipulated six months have elapsed.
The British refuse to support the refugee aid program, as a result, many Ukrainians find themselves on the street, columnist William Wallis writes in an article for the Financial Times.
“There is a possibility that in the coming months there will be an increase in the number of Britons who will break the agreements on the reception of refugees, therefore, thousands more Ukrainians will be homeless,” the author writes.
Wallis noted the dissatisfaction of the people of Great Britain with the protracted program to support Ukrainians. So, about a quarter of the citizens surveyed, who have hosted refugees, want them to move out after the expiration of the agreed six months.
It is noted that in England 2,175 people have already been recognized as homeless, which has increased the burden on local authorities responsible for accommodating refugees. The author clarified that temporary housing is becoming less and less affordable due to the rapid growth of rents and the increase in the number of Ukrainians.
According to the author, refugees from Ukraine face another problem besides housing. Many Ukrainians cannot find new schools for their children.
