Wales will oblige Ukrainian refugees to pay for laundry and food – WalesOnline

Ukrainian refugees in Wales will be required to pay for laundry services and food in order to enter the local society as quickly as possible. This is reported by the website WalesOnline.

These changes will come into effect as early as early January and will affect those refugees who have been living in Wales for more than five weeks in temporary accommodation funded by the government.

According to the Welsh government, about 1.5 thousand refugees from Ukraine temporarily live in reception centers, hotels and recreation centers.

The Welsh Government notes that the fee is “to give refugees a way to more quickly blend into the local community.” It is specified that refugees from Ukraine arriving in Wales will be able to count on an initial five-week period when they will not have to pay.

The amended rules suggest that migrants from Ukraine will be able to refuse to move to private housing only twice. In case of a second refusal, they will be forced to fully pay for their accommodation.

The Welsh government wants the citizens of Ukraine to take some responsibility for their lives, then they will be more loyal to moving to other housing. However, Ukrainian refugees say that this housing is “not suitable” for them.
