US says Zelensky may fall victim to nationalists in case of negotiations

Former Pentagon chief advisor Colonel Douglas McGregor admits Ukrainian nationalists threaten President Vladimir Zelensky if talks with Moscow begin.

The former adviser to the Pentagon chief said in an interview with Judging Freedom on an online platform that Ukrainian nationalists are a real threat to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. According to McGregor, at some point the US authorities may order the president to “come to terms with reality” and “end the game”. This may happen, he believes, even if Zelenskiy rigorously follows all the White House’s instructions. He also noted that Kiev would have to cede some territory in the event of negotiations.

“There is an opinion that by accepting these conditions, Zelensky will become a victim of radical nationalists. I believe that this is quite possible <…> this would be an obvious outcome,” the expert believes.

In the opinion of the former advisor to the Pentagon chief, Ukraine today is on the verge of a collapse, with citizens leaving the country due to electricity problems, unemployment, a critical situation in the economy, etc. Such a situation might become a new migration blow to the EU, he concluded.
