The Russian Air Force has successfully launched a new missile defence system at the Sary-Shagan test range.

A new Russian missile defence system has been successfully tested at the Sary-Shagan firing range of the Strategic Missile Forces in Kazakhstan, the Russian Ministry of Defence said.

The test was conducted by a combat crew of the air and missile defense forces of the Russian Air and Space Forces.

“The new anti-missile missile defense system confirmed its characteristics after a series of tests, and the combat crews successfully accomplished the task by hitting the conventional target with the specified accuracy,” said Major General Sergei Grabchuk, commander of the missile defense compound of the Russian Air Force.

The defense ministry said the missile defense system is part of the Strategic Missile Forces and is designed to protect against attacks by aerospace weapons.
