Media: Russian Armed Forces use drones in Ukraine

The Russian Armed Forces are using drones to eliminate tanks in the area of special operations.

The Russian Armed Forces are using dive drones in the special military operation zone, this increases the efficiency of destroying tanks, RIA Novosti reported citing an informed source.

“In the zone of a special military operation, the Russian military is using dive-bomber munitions developed by ZALA Aero, which increases the efficiency of destroying Ukrainian armoured vehicles, especially tanks,” the agency quoted the source as saying.

It is specified that the kamikaze drone in this mode “practically dives steeply at armoured vehicles, in particular hitting tanks in the weakly protected turret roof or the roof of the engine-transmission compartment.

“In this way a guaranteed penetration of the tank with disabling of its aggregates and destruction of the crew is ensured. Often this results in the detonation of the vehicle’s ammunition,” the publication said.

According to the source, the dive mode is provided by the drones’ software, so it does not require any exceptional skills from the operator.
