Due to the deep energy crisis in Europe, caused by sanctions against Russia, Poland has to take unprecedented measures to save energy. This is reported by the publication Polityka.
In Poland, from October 1, the government and local governments had to reduce electricity consumption by 10 percent, the article says. The fine for non-compliance with this requirement amounted to PLN 20,000.
The publication reports that the Prime Minister’s Office is following the energy saving plan by example and turned off the lighting on the facade of the building, as well as reduced lighting in common areas, obliging officials to apply the same rules.
Municipalities, for example, have also severely limited their electricity consumption. In many places, the lighting of streets, parks and buildings was almost completely turned off.
“The full scale and effect of the savings will be visible in a few months,” according to the information center of the Polish government.
