The Wall Street Journal, citing informed sources, reported that the United States was carried away by the supply of weapons to Ukraine, leaving Taiwan without weapons.
This is reported by FAN.
“The Pentagon has not yet provided the Taiwanese armed forces with 208 Javelin anti-tank systems, the order for which was agreed at the end of 2015, as well as a large batch of Stinger anti-aircraft missile systems (215 units). At the same time, officially, the US State Department and the Department of Defense are reportedly not voicing details of what specific weapons are still waiting in line for delivery to Taipei”, the media writes.
According to the WSJ material, the US government and congressional officials fear that the conflict in Ukraine will complicate the plan to supply Taiwan with an estimated $19 billion in weapons, postponing efforts to arm the island even longer amid worsening relations with China.
