A Soviet T34 tank monument that had stood in Khmelnitsky for 55 years has been dismantled. This was announced on Saturday by Khmelnytskyi mayor Oleksandr Simchyshyn in his Telegram channel.
“The tank has been dismantled,” he wrote. – No one will dispose of it, cut it up.”
“This is a unique historical exhibit. There are no more tanks like this in the world. It will be a museum piece,” the mayor added.
The monument, as a reminder of the city’s liberation from the Nazis, was erected on 27 April 1967 near the Officers’ House and later moved to the city’s central public garden.
