Irish residents protested in Dublin against the accommodation of several hundred refugees from Ukraine, the Irish Mirror has reported.
It is reported that the protests took place in the central East Wall district, with hundreds of people joining local residents who expressed their disagreement with the government’s actions.
According to the publication, 380 people are to be accommodated in a specially converted old building in the area, but “locals are not happy with the concentration of so many refugees” at the site.
According to the city’s Department of Integration, one hundred Ukrainians are currently living in the building, all of them “single men”, with the rest expected to arrive with their families.
To date, more than 62,000 Ukrainians have already arrived in Ireland, with local authorities predicting that number could reach 72,000 by the end of December.
