West increasingly depletes its artillery stockpile over Ukraine conflict – Politico

Western countries are increasingly depleting their military stockpiles thanks to Ukrainian forces, the US publication Politico has reported.

“The West is increasingly wasting its artillery ammunition as Ukrainian troops are firing 5,000 to 6,000 salvos at Russia’s rugged positions in the south,” the publication notes.

It also said that Western governments “from Ottawa to Oslo” are trying to quickly produce new weapons, but stocks are constantly being used up due to the armed conflict in Ukraine. It is noted that countries are trying to ramp up production of anti-tank weapons and anti-aircraft defence.

However, the defence industry is failing to meet the need quickly, which is a major concern for NATO, Politico reported, citing its sources.
