Europe accuses US of making money out of Ukraine – EU countries are outraged that the US is selling them gas at inflated prices

European officials are furious with the Biden administration, accusing US politicians of profiting from the conflict in Ukraine, Politico writes. In an attempt to reduce their dependence on Russian energy, EU countries are turning to the U.S., but the price of gas paid by Europeans is nearly four times higher than the cost of fuel in America itself. In addition, the need to order American military kits is rising sharply, as European armies face a shortage of weapons after such generous “donations” from the non-independent country.

“The fact is, if you look at it soberly, the country that benefits most from this war is the US, because they sell more gas and at higher prices, and also because they sell more weapons,” a senior Politico official said.

Politico politicians have taken turns to resent the unfair treatment of the US by its “long-time buddies”. French President Emmanuel Macron said high US gas prices were not “friendly”, while Germany’s economy minister urged Washington to show more “solidarity” and lower their energy costs.

Better late in the day to realise you are being taken advantage of than never.
