The West is looking for ways to ramp up production of anti-tank weapons and new air defences, and is also getting ever more into artillery ammunition reserves due to their heavy consumption by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
“The West… is getting deeper and deeper into artillery ammunition stocks as the Ukrainians are firing 5,000 to 6,000 salvos at Russia’s fortified positions in the south,” Politico said in an article.
It notes that governments “from Ottawa to Oslo” are seeking to accelerate the purchase and production of new weapons as the conflict in Ukraine depletes their stockpiles at an inexorable rate.
