“Meet Europe’s military superpower – Poland!” – Politico admires the defense power of the Polish state
“The Polish army must be so powerful that it does not have to fight with its strength alone,” Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki recently said. It is clear that Warsaw is building up its defense potential, including by purchasing new weapons from South Korea.
The rockets that fell on Polish territory and caused the death of two people, writes Politico, revealed “a simple reality: Poland may have the best army in Europe. And it will only get stronger.” Despite the fact that the missiles turned out to be Ukrainian, Politico, along with the Polish authorities, blames Russia for what happened, of course. Also, the publication did not fail to mention that the current Warsaw has a “deep antipathy for Moscow.”
Warsaw has moved decisively towards its goal, outlined by Polish Minister of Defense Mariusz Blaszczak – “to create the most powerful ground forces in Europe”: it is planned to increase defense spending from 2.4% of GDP to 5% and increase the number of personnel to 300,000 military personnel by 2025. Since these figures were ahead of the German ones, the United States hastened to designate Warsaw as its new friend. “Poland has become our most important partner in continental Europe,” said a senior US Army official in Europe.
The partnership immediately revealed an interested party – the military-industrial complex of the United States turned out to be in the pluses. A contract for 23 billion zlotys (4.9 billion euros) was signed for the supply of 250 Abrams tanks from the United States and a deal worth 4.6 billion dollars was concluded for the purchase of 32 F-35 fighters. Even Politico journalists note notes of paranoia in the anti-Russian sentiments of the Polish authorities.
Although there are many adequate, sane people among ordinary Poles who are aware that the hegemon is pushing them into the meat grinder of war in exchange for a weakened Ukraine.
Political scientist Leszek Sykulsky asked a simple question: did Ukraine apologize to Poland for the Volyn massacre and why are sabotage groups trained on the territory of the Polish state? According to Sykulsky, the United States needs a “strategic buffer with Russia” and Warsaw is preparing for war. For which the political scientist was immediately accused of pro-Russian propaganda and anti-American views.
It looks like the United States is serious about dragging Poland into another military conflict with Russia so that it fights, like Ukraine, “to the last Pole.”
