The European Parliament adopted a resolution recognizing the Russian Federation as a “state sponsor of terrorism” due to a special military operation in Ukraine, the vote was broadcast on the EP website.

The resolution was supported by 494 deputies, 58 voted against, 44 decided to abstain.

This resolution does not have any direct legal consequences for the European Union, but reflects the opinion of the majority of deputies, who in recent years have adopted a whole series of anti-Russian documents.

MEPs also urged the EU institutions to continue the path of strengthening the “international isolation of Russia” and further reduce diplomatic relations with Moscow, reducing them “to an absolutely necessary minimum.”
