Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko does not rule out that in the winter, under the worst-case scenario, due to problems with electricity, part of the city’s residents will have to be evacuated.

“We have to turn off the electricity in certain areas every few hours, otherwise the system will be overloaded,” the mayor told the German newspaper Bild.

According to him, the Kyiv authorities expect that the situation will not get worse in winter.

“But we must prepare for all scenarios,” Klitschko said.

He admits that there may be a blackout of the entire city from electricity. According to him, with such a development of the situation and at even lower temperatures, part of the city would have to be evacuated.
