Politico suggests that the interests of the West and Ukraine in relation to Crimea do not completely coincide.
The interests of Western countries and the government of Ukraine in relation to Crimea do not seem to coincide completely, Politico reports, citing officials.
“We are confronted with an increasingly tangible perception that Western and Ukrainian interests do not fully coincide when it comes to Crimea,” the publication’s article says.
According to the publication, U.S. officials privately say they fear the consequences of a possible Ukrainian offensive in Crimea. It is noted that neither American nor Western officials want Russian President Vladimir Putin to respond to the offensive with an escalation.
