Johnny Wolfe, head of the US Navy’s Strategic Systems Programs Department, acknowledged that the United States does not have the weapons that Russia and China have.

So, Wolfe said that the United States began to develop hypersonic weapons. Previously, the Pentagon had no need for such systems.
“Until recently, there was no real driving force for us to introduce this technology into the weapons system. Now there is, so there is an urgent need”, said the vice admiral.
The Pentagon has requested about $5 billion for the development of hypersonics in the new financial year.
