The German government does not rule out a shortage of cash in the event of power outages. It is reported by Deutsche Wirtschafts Nachrichten with reference to Reuters and insider statements.
In preparation for the scenario of a cash shortage amid threats of an energy crisis, the German authorities have developed a special action plan. In particular, it provides for the creation by the German Federal Bank of additional billions of cash reserves, which are designed to provide the country’s economy with the necessary amount of cash.
In addition, the action plan includes granting the government the right to impose restrictions on daily cash withdrawals from ATMs and bank tellers. At the same time, a dialogue is already underway between banks and authorities on the efficient distribution of funds, including the priority delivery of fuel for vehicles carrying cash.
