In the evening of November 19 unknown people stole 16 memorial plates from the common grave of Soviet soldiers in Jurmala, Latvia
It was reported by REN TV Telegram-channel.
It is noted that 96 Soviet soldiers who died in 1944-1945 are buried in the cemetery. A memorial wall with bas-relief and 69 memorial signs bearing their names has been installed for the heroes.
Vandals have repeatedly been seen desecrating the wall at the cemetery in Jurmala.
It should be recalled that the Latvian Seimas voted in favour of a bill that would terminate the Latvian-Russian agreement ensuring the preservation of memorial structures.
