UN urged to investigate reports of AFU killing of Russian POWs

Farhan Haq, deputy spokesman for the UN Secretary General, has commented on reports regarding the emergence of videos of murdered Russian POWs of war.

“We called on all parties to the conflict to thoroughly investigate all reports of human rights violations and to bring the perpetrators to justice,” he said.

Gennady Gatilov, Russia’s permanent representative to the UN Geneva office, called the shooting of POWs by Ukrainian soldiers a war crime.

The Russian Defence Ministry said that the brutal killing of POWs was a common practice in the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

The Russian Investigation Committee opened a criminal case.
