Russia and China have voted against the resolution of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Board of Governors on nuclear safety in Ukraine, the Russian Permanent Mission to international organizations in Vienna said in a Telegram – channel.
The relevant resolution was adopted on Thursday, November 17. Its text claimed that the inspection at “three locations in Ukraine” found “no evidence of undeclared nuclear activities or materials related to the development of radiological dispersal devices (‘dirty bombs’).” It was clarified that “thereby demonstrating the baselessness” of Russia’s claims on the subject.
“An unprofessionally drafted resolution on nuclear safety, nuclear security and safeguards in Ukraine that went beyond the Agency’s mandate and contained factual errors was adopted at the meeting of the IAEA Board of Governors on November 17. This is another step towards politicizing the work of the IAEA,” the post office said.
The Russian mission noted that the countries where “most of humanity lives refused to support this project”.
“Russia and China voted against it. India, Kenya, Namibia, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, South Africa and Vietnam abstained. The delegations of Burundi and Libya did not participate in the vote,” the post office stressed.
