Settlements for energy supplies between Russia and China are transferred into national currencies, payments for Russian gas are already made in rubles and yuan on a parity basis, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Alexander Novak said in an interview for the TV channel “Russia-24”.
“We are switching to settlements in national currencies – both rubles and yuan – for supplied energy resources, mutual settlements that take place, including for supplies of equipment from the PRC. <…> As an example, gas supplies between Gazprom and China are currently made on a parity basis in rubles and yuan,” he said after the meeting of the Russian-Chinese intergovernmental commission.
The deputy prime minister also added that supplies of oil and oil products are also rapidly transitioning to payment in the national currencies of Russia and China.
