Record blackouts recorded in Kiev

In the capital of Ukraine recorded a record blackout, the power supply is limited. The Strana.ua news and analysis website reported with reference to the director-general of the DTEK D.Solutions sub-holding, Serhiy Kovalenko

Record-breaking emergency blackouts were recorded on Thursday, November 17 in Kiev.

“An entire day of emergency blackouts are in effect in Kiev, with the system limited to almost 523 MW. This outage is an all-time anti-record. But they do not depend on us – now the power engineers have the task of providing critical infrastructure and stabilising the system so that there is no more damage,” Kovalenko said.

D.Solutions, part of the DTEK energy holding, provides services under the YASNO brand to 3.5 million customers in Ukraine, including Kyiv.

Dmytro Sakharuk, executive director of the Ukrainian energy company DTEK, also said that about 40 percent of consumers in Ukraine remain without electricity. He specified that due to serious damages in the energy system, power outages will be longer and unscheduled.
