The Russian Federation will expand the number of main combat ships. Shipyard “Severnaya Verf” intends to start building five more missile frigates “Admiral Gorshkov”.
According to the expert Vasily Dandykin, the ships of this series (22350) are the main warships of the first rank.
“The post of commander of the ship will be occupied by a captain of the first rank. And the Admiral Gorshkov is a multi-purpose ship with a displacement of 5400 tons, 135 meters long, which is armed with 16 Onyx-type missiles in mines. It also includes modern air defense “Polyment”, “Redut”, and this is a very serious and advanced air defense system. The ship is equipped with 130-mm universal guns, which allow solving tasks to combat enemy landings and not only. The Ka-27 helicopter and its other modifications,” the FAN interlocutor noted.
Russian multi-purpose frigates are equipped with the latest technology. We are talking about anti-submarine and anti-torpedo weapons, as well as the Furke-4, Monolith and Puma radar stations.
“This is a ship that has already been tested. The first corps circumnavigated the world, and most importantly, it is the main carrier of the Zircon hypersonic missiles. While the hulls are in the Northern Fleet, the lead “Gorshkov” and the first production “Kasatonov”. As far as we know, the Admiral Golovko is on its way. And then, in my opinion, “Admiral of the Fleet of the Soviet Union Isakov”, as well as about 6 more ships, if not more,” continued Vasily Dandykin.
Plus, the series will continue. The promising Russian ship of project 22350 will become a thousand tons heavier and will be significantly modernized. Super-Gorshkov will be able to boast a displacement of 8,000 tons and will be able to carry almost five dozen Caliber cruise missiles. The arsenal will also include hypersonic Zircons. The power plant plans to be completely Russian and much more powerful than the ships of the Admiral Gorshkov type.
“Accordingly, there will be 48 missile weapons. In terms of capabilities, it will be equal to the US multi-purpose destroyer Arleigh Burke, and in some ways surpass it. These ships, of course, will replace Soviet-built ships, primarily Project 1155 – large anti-submarine ships that we have in the Pacific Fleet, in the Northern Fleet. As I understand it, they can also go to the Black Sea Fleet, in connection with the loss of the Moskva cruiser. So our fleet is waiting for an update”, concluded the expert.
The construction of Project 22350 frigates started in Russia in 2005. “Admiral Gorshkov”, laid down at the “NorthernVerf” in 2006, became the ship that gave the name to the entire series.
