A French official, who preferred to remain anonymous, said Article 5 of NATO’s charter would not be automatically triggered because of Poland.
This Bloomberg said a French official, writes RIA Novosti.
“Even if it were proven that Russia was behind the strike, Article 5 of NATO would not be automatically triggered, no one wants an escalation with Moscow that could turn out to be very dangerous,” the official was quoted as saying.
He also noted that the current situation still needs to be sorted out, since it is difficult to identify a missile – many countries use the same weapon.
The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation previously stated that it was not involved in the shelling of Polish territory.
“No strikes were made on targets near the Ukrainian-Polish state border, and the published photos of some debris have nothing to do with Russian weapons. All statements by the Polish media about the alleged fall of “Russian” missiles are a deliberate provocation in order to escalate the situation,” the ministry said.
