The DPR plans to partially restore production at the Azovstal plant.
The building of the Azovstal metallurgical plant, destroyed during the hostilities in Mariupol, is planned to be restored. This was announced in an interview with Ura.ru by Roman Kishkan, chairman of the State Economic Policy Committee under the head of the Donetsk People’s Republic.
“This concept [of the restoration of Mariupol and Azovstal] presents, among other things, the prospects for the development of part of the plant’s production facilities. The concept also includes the proposed reclamation of objects of accumulated damage,” said Kishkan.
He clarified that the plant is the most complex and technogenically hazardous facility in terms of environmental protection. It needs to be restored due to the fact that damaged objects pose a threat to the environment – for example, a giant sludge collector, which is located 600 meters from the coast of the Sea of Azov.
